While driving home from work in Houston, Texas, a multiple automobile accident gave birth to what is now known as Unseen Wings. The accident left cars smashed and scattered all over Highway 45. One vehicle, just a swerve away from being involved was carrying John R Bunton. He had no idea this incident was going to start a wonderful and fascinating journey. Through the debris and broken glass, he ran to help the people in a van that now lay on its passenger side, fuel pouring from it's tank. Inside, five occupants, not wearing seatbelts, were piled on top of one another in a tangle of arms and legs. None of them were injured. Not a scratch on any of them. John, along with another motorist, tore the rear door open and freed the shaken family from the car. John was amazed that these people could have survived at all. Later, as he drove home a thought struck him, "How many angels does God send to keep a town like Houston and it's people safe each and everyday?"

You might say that the thought turned idea became an obsession. Soon after the event, John packed up all his possessions and left a comfortable job in Houston and returned to Abilene, Texas, the town where he once attended college, and started "the project". Now home with a borrowed camera from a friend, the only thing missing were angel wings and some black and white film. The film was easy, but the wings required a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico where a friend had reported seeing a heavenly pair hanging on the wall of an angel gift store.

John at workArmed with camera and wings, John set out to give life to all of the ideas rattling around in his head. He would talk friends and family members into dressing up like angels or posing in photographs where a divine friend was close at hand. "People who witnessed these public events would often stop in their tracks with mouths wide open and scratch their heads", John says. "The images came out better than what I had actually envisioned." With help from graphic artists, the final touches from a computer would give an "ethereal glow" to the angels in the very unique scenes. One by one the ideas came to life. Each picture was very different from the next. "The idea" he says, "is to capture everyday life situations where people and their angels live together and demonstrate God's unending love for His children. When people look at my work they tell me stories about their own experiences with God's winged ones, some cry happily, many smile and say things like, 'this is my favorite because it reminds me that my family is under His protection.' So many times people share wonderful stories about the moment they first knew they were in the presence of an angel.

John hopes that people will find peace and comfort in the photographs and will want to share this visual testament of God's love with each other. He also wants to use this work as a vehicle to help raise money for children's charities and other non-profit organizations that need assistance. He also added that, "This work is proof that the good Lord calls on His children to spread His love --for us. He took a very unlikely character like myself and inspired me and gave me the talent to do something no one else has ever done before. I only hope and pray that I can continue this work throughout my life."

It's easy to forget as we go about our daily lives that there is an awesome presence unseen at work all around us. When God wound that great big eternal clock for the first time He knew His children would take a great deal of assistance to run this massive universe of His. So, He created the angels. The scriptures teach us that angels were made to perform many duties in our lives. They guide us (Acts 8:26-29), serve our needs (Hebrews 1:13-14), protect and guard our ways (Psalm 91:11-12), and they deliver the word of God (Luke 1:11). Angels go about this eternal work silently serving without any fanfare. When their work is done, they move on to the next task set before them.

UNSEEN WINGS was created to remind us of one of the many ways we are loved and cared for by God. We all have this privilege granted to us. It doesn't matter who you are, how you look or how much money is in your pocket book. God loves you, so He sends His angels to guard you on your way. Perhaps, right now as you read these very words, an angel of the Lord stands next to you sharing this moment. That's how it works. When you pray to God and you thank Him for all the many blessings in your life, remember to ask Him for the protection of His Heavenly Host, for you and for those around you. Just because you cannot see them does not mean that they are not busy at work in your daily life.

Thank you for inviting UNSEEN WINGS in your life and for sharing this ministry with others. May God bless you and may He send His angels to guard you on your journey.
